Just me
I lied,
but who knew?
Just me
and maybe you.
And in keeping with our theme of wheels
He took her so seriously
ravished her in fact
Valley shag and raincloud blue
I lie awhile and look at you
Electric transit
For a minute the moon
Silver sliver
over pale light
and an icy river-
For a minute my soul
ceased to quiver.
For a minute the moon
kept me warm.
Valentijnsdag
All these poor Dutch romantics,
going to dinner
on their bikes
in the rain.
Waxing and waning of the leaves at Maarn
I read once the biography of a Canadian woman who’d emigrated from Holland. She loved her new life but missed her “paradisaical Maarn.” I pass this lost garden on the train. Sometimes you can see far into it. Sometimes you can’t.
Show me the way!
